Spanish suite Carmen RCB – INTERNATIONAL CONCERT AGENCY

Spanish suite Carmen RCB

Ballet by Royal Classical Ballet

The ballet was created by Honored Artist of Russia, leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Andrei Merkuriev especially for the Moscow State Ballet. At the center of the play is the story of Carmen, invented by Prosper Merimee, repeatedly reinterpreted by great authors: Marius Petipa, Georges Bizet, Kasyan Goleizovsky, Roland Petit, Rodion Shchedrin and Alberto Alonso, Mats Ek, Matthew Bourne, Jiri Kylian. Spanish passion and betrayal, freedom, crime and death – all this is in our “Carmen”. But no one has ever left the heroine the choice to live or die, love or betray. Would Carmen be able to change her fate if she knew exactly what awaited her? Andrey Merkuriev gives her such a chance. His performance is a premonition, a prediction given to Carmen by a street fortune teller. The choreographer leaves her the right to decide for herself: to submit to the evil will of fate or to choose a different path.
