ABOUT PERFORMANCE
The story is written by Brancati, another Sicilian and he is very modern. They are corners of a tradition, where you feel, where it exudes, the Sicilian reality. This text was written in 1952 and they censored it. If even today the theme of homosexuality, especially that of women, is still little approached. This woman, the protagonist, wanted to be another person. Think of that torment, what fear, how much mask, how much suffering.
The protagonist, the Housekeeper, finds herself in a conflict generated by modesty and slander … “She does not deal with it right away. Her drama is just having something inside that she does not want to recognize, that she does not want.
But the presence of this something in her makes her lose control. Conflict is everything with itself. In fact, she tries to be generous even with the girl who gets fired for her.
The partner of Ornella Muti is Enrico Guarneri, a comedian, actor and theatre artist. Very famous in Sicilia with TV Program “L’insieme” . He started his carrier in 1976 with San Giuvanni la Punta and took part of different theatrical productions in Sicily . As well worked with “Litterio Scalisi” and in 2008 received the premium of Sicily Patron Mirko Vecchio.
On the stage, there is also his daughter Naike. She brings this double role of mother and colleague ”
We are at an age when Naike and I are really very good friends, also because I had it very early: I grew up with her too. When I see her there I’m happy, I enjoy it, I like working on it. Behind the scenes are much more tense, concentrated, I cannot be the mother who stays at home. And there it is more she gives to me.
BIOGRAPHY
Stunningly beautiful, exceptionally talented and elegant Francesca Romana Rivelli, known as Ornella Muti, was born in Rome, Lazio, Italy.
She first drew attention in the film La moglie più bella (The most beautiful wife) directed by Damiano Damiani. Her debut was extremely successful. The first award the talented actress received as “Best Beginning Actress” (Migliore Attrice Esordiente) at the festival Golden Goblets, Italy.
Continuing to actively withdraw, Ornela Muti subsequently appeared in the Sole nella pelle (“Sun on the skin”), Tutti figli di Mammasantissima (“Italian graffiti”), Romanzo popolare (“The Romance”), etc.
Soon she began to win big awards and , in the end, she received the Golden Globe Award as the best actress for the films “Bewitched”, “Me and my sister”, “Nobody is perfect” as a result of a series of nominations.

SULLE PRESTAZIONI
Questa commedia fu scritta nel 1952 e subito censurata. La scusa era quella del tema – allora molto scottante – dell’omosessualità, anche se mio padre sosteneva che «La sostanza della vicenda è più la calunnia che l’amore fra le due donne». Ma sullo sfondo di un complesso discorso sull’etica e sulla responsabilità individuale, il testo è pieno di accenti polemici contro l’ipocrisia dei benpensanti cattolici, il filocomunismo borghese, i principi della Sicilia baronale e contro la censura stessa.
La vicenda è imperniata su Caterina Leher, governante francese assunta in casa Platania, famiglia siciliana e borghese trapiantata a Roma. Leopoldo, il patriarca, ha sacrificato la vita di una figlia, morta suicida, ai pregiudizi della sua morale. Caterina è calvinista e viene considerata da tutti un modello d’ integrità. Vive però segretamente la propria omosessualità, una «colpa» a cui si aggiunge quella d’ aver attribuito a una giovane cameriera dei Platania le proprie stesse tendenze, causandone il licenziamento. Caterina si sente responsabile della morte della ragazza, coinvolta in un incidente mentre tornava al Sud: un peccato che la governante deciderà di espiare con il suicidio.
Il partner di Ornella Muti è Enrico Guarneri, comico, attore e artista teatrale. Molto famoso in Sicilia con il programma TV “L’insieme”, ha iniziato la sua carriera nel 1976.
Sul palco c’è anche sua figlia Naike. Ornella affronta dunque il duplice ruolo di madre e di college: “Siamo ad un’età in cui Naike ed io siamo davvero ottime amiche”.
